As you hike through the breathtaking Zanskar Range, you'll pass through narrow valleys and marvel at the vast rock formations, remnants of an ancient ocean floor. Upon reaching Tar Village, you'll receive a warm welcome from the locals. Take this opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich culture and traditions of this quaint village, connecting with the villagers and learning about their sustainable way of life. Enjoy a traditional dinner prepared by your hosts and rest well in the serene surroundings, preparing for the next day's adventure.

The trek from Tar to Mangue is the highlight of this journey, offering a blend of challenging trails and stunning natural beauty. Begin your trek by ascending to Hipti La, a mountain pass at 4100 meters, where you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. As you hike, you'll traverse a variety of terrains, from lush valleys to rocky paths. The trail continues to Mangue La at 4300 meters, presenting a steeper climb but also more breathtaking vistas. Tar

Nestled in the south of Nurla village in the Sham valley of Ladakh lies Tar, a village known for its alluring landscape, pristine rivers, serene nature, and heart-warming people. Tar is a village that has a rich cultural and traditional heritage that dates back to its origins as a shepherd’s place. However, Tar is facing immense challenges due to urbanisation and a lack of connectivity to the outer world. The village’s population has declined significantly in the past 6-7 years, and Tar is currently on the verge of extinction. In this proposal, we aim to provide a framework for the rehabilitation of Tar village to help it regain its cultural and traditional ethnicity.
