Tar Revitilisation Project
Tar village, located in the sham valley of Ladakh, India , is a remote village that has been experiencing economic hardship due to a lack of job opportunities and insufficient access to education. The majority of its inhabitants are subsistence farmers who face daily hardships in their quest for a decent livelihood. The village is highly affected by urbanisation.
In response to these pressing concerns, an ambitious project launched with the objective of revitalising the village through the promotion of sustainable tourism. By harnessing the enchanting allure of the village’s natural surroundings and rich cultural heritage, the project aims to foster a sustainable economic upswing that will uplift the living standards of its residents, reviving the culture, documenting the traditional knowledge, restoring the structure, uplifting wildlife, local crafts.
